Thomas F. Theiner

Thomas obtained his BS in Materials Science and Engineering from Lehigh University in 2025. His undergraduate research with the Strandwitz group focused on atomic layer deposition of thin film heterostructures for applications in optoelectronics. He also worked with machine learning to develop interatomic potentials for use in molecular dynamics simulations of shock loading conditions during an REU at NC State, and developed a computational model to predict the drying behavior of a polymer solution in a web-drying process as a capstone project with the Lamart corporation. He joined the Materials Science PhD program at Caltech in 2025 and his current research interests include topological materials and applications of quantum geometry.
