Yao Luo
Yao holds a B.S. in Physics from Nanjing University and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Caltech. His thesis, "First-Principles Many-Body Theory of Polarons and Data-Driven Compression of Quantum Interactions," received the 2026 Milton and Francis Clauser Doctoral Prize. His doctoral research focused on developing first-principles many-body methods for polarons and electron-phonon interactions, including a diagrammatic Monte Carlo approach for polarons and tensor-learning methods for compressing quantum interactions. Yao joined the group as a graduate student in September 2021 and is now a postdoctoral scholar. His research interests include tensor compression and quantum many-body physics.
